How to Make Money with ChatGPT: 10 Options, But Beware, Only 9 of Them Are Legit

If you feel like everything you’re reading about how to make money with ChatGPT was written by ChatGPT, you are probably right. I also wanted to write a blog post about how to make money with ChatGPT, but I wanted to put a little bit of a different spin to it.

I want to test out some of the ideas that I’ve come across because just because there’s a list of things you can do to get started with how to make money with ChatGPT doesn’t mean that you want to do any of them or that they are feasible for everyone.

SO! I’m going to be the guinea pig who tests out these how to make money with ChatGPT ideas.

Here’s the YouTube video I made on this topic.

How I’m Testing Out the How to Make Money with ChatGPT Ideas

The first thing I needed to do to test out how to make money with ChatGPT was find some ideas.

Of course that meant starting with asking ChatGPT. I got some ideas and I’ll go over them, but they weren’t exactly what I was looking for.

So I also hit up my old friend Google. And the second result was this article about how to make money with ChatGPT.

This was much more along the lines of what I was looking for. Different ideas than what ChatGPT gave me.

The How to Make Money With ChatGPT Gameplan

First things first, I needed to review each of the ideas I found. There are lots of things I am capable of. There are lots of things I am capable of learning and there are also things I’m simply not interested in.

So I walked through each of them to decide which ones I would want to focus on.

Here’s how that went.

ChatGPT’s Ideas on How To Make Money With ChatGPT

Before we get into the response that ChatGPT gave me, here’s the series of prompts that I gave it to get the response. The question I started with is directly from the Beebom Article:

ChatGPT output for learning how to make money with ChatGPT.

I love the questions that ChatGPT asked. I think they are all good questions you should ask yourself as you’re thinking about tackling a new side hustle or any online business.

I think if people sat down and really thought about things like “How much time per week can you devote to this side hustle?” they might have a better idea of what would work best for them.

Anyway, I answered all of ChatGPT’s questions and it gave me this list:

Great! Based on your answers, it seems like you have a good grasp on content creation and digital marketing, which will be useful. Your goal is to use GPT technology to create an info-based product while spending a minimal amount of money. You also have time to devote to the project and are comfortable learning new software.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how you can use GPT technology for your side hustle:

Step 1: Define your product

Given your background in content creation and marketing, you could leverage GPT technology to create high-quality content for ebooks, online courses, or informational products. These could be about digital marketing or any other topic you think there’s a market for.

You mentioned that you don’t have a specific target audience in mind, but it would be beneficial to identify a niche group that you can target your product to. This can help in creating content that resonates with a particular group, thereby increasing the chances of making a sale.

Step 2: Create your content with GPT

Once you’ve identified what product you want to create, you can start developing it.

You can use GPT technology to create content by giving it prompts or asking it questions related to the topic of your product. For example, if you’re creating an ebook about digital marketing, you might give it a prompt like “Write a chapter about SEO strategies for small businesses.”

The AI can help you generate first drafts, brainstorm ideas, or even write whole sections, which you can then revise and refine.

Step 3: Refine and structure your content

While GPT can generate high-quality content, it is essential to review, refine, and structure this content to ensure that it is coherent, engaging, and valuable to your target audience. This will also be the time to infuse your personal expertise and unique viewpoint.

Step 4: Market and sell your product

With a finished product, you can use your digital marketing skills to promote and sell your product. This could involve creating a sales page on your website, running email marketing campaigns, using social media, or employing SEO strategies to drive traffic to your product.

As you get started, remember to keep track of what works and what doesn’t so that you can continually refine your strategy and increase your sales.

Lastly, keep learning and staying updated about GPT technology and other AI advancements. This could open up new possibilities for your side hustle in the future.

Now, I already have digital products set up to sell. This wasn’t exactly what I was looking for, but I figured I could at least try to come up with a different digital product I could sell. So I asked,

And boy did I get some ideas:

That sounds like a promising niche! Here are several ideas on how online business owners can use ChatGPT to enhance their businesses and, subsequently, how you could structure your eBook.

1. Content Creation:

  • Blog Posts: ChatGPT can help generate high-quality blog posts on a range of topics related to the business. This can increase SEO ranking, drive organic traffic, and establish authority in their niche.
  • Social Media Content: Using ChatGPT for creating engaging captions, hashtags, and posts for social media can save time and resources.
  • Email Marketing: From newsletters to sales emails, ChatGPT can help craft effective and engaging email content.
  • (Learn more about using AI for content creation here!).

2. Customer Service:

  • Chatbot: ChatGPT can be used to create a customer service chatbot. This could significantly reduce the amount of time spent answering customer inquiries, and it provides immediate responses, improving customer satisfaction.

3. Product Descriptions and Sales Copy:

  • Writing catchy and detailed product descriptions can be time-consuming. ChatGPT can aid in generating these descriptions, potentially increasing the appeal of products and conversion rates.

4. Personalized Marketing:

  • Based on customer data, ChatGPT can help generate personalized content and recommendations, enhancing customer engagement and retention.

5. Idea Generation:

  • Whether it’s new product ideas, blog post topics, or marketing strategies, ChatGPT can aid in brainstorming and generating fresh ideas.

6. Market Research:

  • By analyzing large sets of data, ChatGPT can help identify market trends, customer preferences, and competitor strategies.

7. Training and Onboarding:

  • ChatGPT can assist in creating comprehensive training materials for new hires or a dynamic FAQ database for employees.

8. Automation of Routine Tasks:

  • Many routine tasks, like scheduling, sending reminders, or even conducting competitor analysis, can be automated using ChatGPT, freeing up valuable time for business owners.

9. Creating Reports:

  • ChatGPT can help generate reports from given data, making it easier to understand and interpret business metrics and analytics.

Your eBook could include explanations, step-by-step guides, and real-life examples or case studies for each of these applications. It would also be valuable to provide a guide on ethical considerations, privacy, and best practices when using AI technologies like ChatGPT.

Lastly, keep in mind that while ChatGPT is a powerful tool, it’s not perfect. It’s important to review and edit the content generated by the AI before publishing or using it in a professional context.

That’s a lot of good ideas. I would consider writing another eBook on Content Creation, Product Descriptions & Sales Copy and Idea Generation. Those are things I already feel capable of writing. I also love the idea of an eBook about onboarding someone to your “community”. So not necessarily a new hire, but someone who has just bought a product of yours.

Market Research is something I have created a Workshop on, but I might work a little bit more with ChatGPT on that topic to see if I can add to it.

What jumped out at me right away was Automation of Routine Tasks. I can see this working well for people that already have an online business and are getting bogged down in the little things. It’s also something that I would need to research, test and experiment with and that’s always fun, so that is where I’ll begin with this option.

From the list that ChatGPT has given me, that’s something I’m going to work on right away.

What I Got From My Google Search for How to Make Money With ChatGPT

After checking out what GPT had to tell me about making money with ChatGPT, I wanted to see what other people have written about the topic.

The second result from Beepbom had a lot of interesting ideas and looked like a great place to start.

I went through the same process as I did with the results that ChatGPT gave me. What am I already capable of doing, what could I quickly learn to do and what am I just not interested in doing at all.

Here’s what I came up with.

Find Unclaimed Money with ChatGPT

The first item on the list from the article from Beepbom was how to make money with ChatGPT by finding unclaimed money that might be waiting for you to claim.

Now, let’s be honest here, ok? That’s not “making money with ChatGPT”. And while I did follow through on the instructions that were in the article, you really don’t need ChatGPT for this at all. It’s much simpler to just do a Google search for “find unclaimed money (your state)”.

HOWEVER! I am grateful that this was included in this list because I found $1200! So after I fill out a little paperwork, I will actually be getting some money. I just am not going to count it as making money from ChatGPT.

Build an App, Website or Service

Ok, so the second thing on the list for making money online with ChatGPT was to build an App, Website or Service. Here’s the thing. I’m not currently capable of creating an app and I’m also not really interested in learning. I COULD see me collaborating with someone on something like this, but, this is not my area of expertise and I don’t really feel like learning it.

I don’t have a reason to build a website at the moment and I’m not really interested in delivering a service, so, those two are out for the moment, too. I will however, when I get around to designing my site marybethsantos.com, ask ChatGPT for help! I’ll definitely let you know how that goes!

All in all, building an app, website or service isn’t something that I’m interested in doing, so I’m moving on to the next thing.

Get Business Ideas from ChatGPT

Now this is good. I already have the 12 Hour eBook Method that teaches you how to do this with ChatGPT and I already have a business myself, so I won’t move forward with this one because the last thing I need is more businesses, but I can tell you that ChatGPT can absolutely help you come up with good business ideas.

I use to help determine target audiences and digital products for that audience with just a few prompts.

  • What can you tell me about (broad niche)?
  • Who is interested in (broad niche)?
  • What roadblocks frustrate (the people you chose from question 2) and keep them from their goals when it comes to (broad niche)?
  • What are the consequences that (people you chose from question 2) face if they do not overcome the roadblock of (the roadblock you chose from question 3)?

Try those three prompts and see what you think.

Create an AI Chatbot

This one I have no interest in. It feels pretty techie-ish and that’s just not what I want to do with my life, so it’s a no for me, Beepbom.

Email Affiliate Marketing

As someone who uses tools that I pay for every month and that I LOVE and recommend, I should be doing WAY more affiliate marketing.

But it is never top of mind for me and it feels like it would be a slow build to making any decent money from affiliate marketing when it’s not my main focus.

However, with the help of ChatGPT, I could get some emails whipped up for some of my favorite tools and services pretty quickly. I could even create a page on my site that I could reference in emails, too.

*note to myself: A really good idea would be to take that previous idea of “onboarding people to my community” and incorporate some affiliate marketing with that! Duh.

Turn Into a Prompt Expert

The take on “turn into a prompt expert” in the article was more about creating a course or workshop about how to write chatgpt prompts, but that in and of itself isn’t a great idea in my opinion. I’ve already created a course on how to use prompts to help build an online business and I think that’s a much better option for a course than just “how to write prompts”. Having something specific to apply those prompts to is a better option.

However, I do think it would be really fun to create a list of premade prompts for an AI image generator like MidJourney and add those to my Etsy shop. I would make them specific to the types of images online business owners might want for different purposes.

That is definitely going on my list of things to try.

Create Videos with ChatGPT

I’ve used ChatGPT to help me with YouTube videos. Once this blog post is finished, I’ll feed it to ChatGPT and ask it to turn it into a YouTube script and then I’ll also ask ChatGPT to write the description for the video for me.

For something like that, ChatGPT is fantastic. It does a remarkable job at writing a YouTube script including giving you directions and ideas for things to include on the screen.

But this idea, “Create Videos with ChatGPT” got me thinking about other ways I could create video with AI. I’ve started to research some AI video creation options, especially animated video and this is something I definitely want to add to my list.

It’s not a direct path to “how to make money from ChatGPT”, but it is content creation and content builds an audience and audiences buy your products, so it is indirectly a way to make money with AI (if not ChatGPT).

While we’re on the topic of video creation, I do use another tool for video editing that incorporates AI. It’s called Descript and it is amazing. Instead of editing video in the timeline like you would in a normal video editor, Descript transcribes your video and you edit the text.

You can even click a button that will remove all of the ummmms (and other filler words) from videos and shorten word gaps.

It has been a game changer for me when it comes to editing longer form videos.

Freelance and Create Content

I’ve never done freelancing before, but I have always romanticized the idea of being a freelance writer.

I think I’ve stopped myself from doing it because I don’t completely understand the process and the idea of trying to find clients is not appealing to me.

(Side note: This feeling of “not appealing” to me is usually a sign that I should probably just try it and see what happens. There are a million things that I do for my business now that I once thought “didn’t appeal to me”. Keep that in mind for yourself).

So, this is something I’m going to try. I’m going to put a LOT of the pressure on ChatGPT to help me figure out what exactly I’m supposed to do to learn how to make money with ChatGPT with freelance writing which I think will be a great experiment.

The plan is to ask ChatGPT to tell me step by step how I can make money freelance writing and then just follow the steps. No additional thoughts about the process. I want to see how well ChatGPT does at actually making this happen for something that I know very little about.

Stay tuned for more on that.

Become A Virtual Assistant

I’m including this here because while I do think Virtual Assistant is a great option and VA’s would probably save themselves a ton of time and effort if they implement ChatGPT, I am not personally interested in becoming a Virtual Assistant.

And, unlike above where the idea of finding clients was “not appealing”, this is ALSO something I don’t have the time to dedicate to. To me, it would be Make Money with Your Digital Product Business OR Become a VA. Doing both of those things at once would be a LOT of time and effort.

But, if VA is right for you, I definitely think it’s a great possibility and ChatGPT would be a big help.

What’s Next?

You probably guessed that simply writing a blog post about how to make money with ChatGPT does not actually make you any money.

So next up is going to be implementing these things. In order to implement them, I need to pick something to start with and the first thing I’m going to do is Email Affiliate Marketing. Or, affiliate marketing in general.

I’ll be updating my progress on these how to make money with ChatGPT methods in separate posts, but you probably don’t want to have to remember to hop back into the blog to see how this experiment is going.

Instead, sign up for our free Digital Product Playbook. You’ll be on my email list and I’ll send updates on this experiment periodically through there and you’ll also get the amazing Digital Product Playbook!
