Death of the Sales Funnel and What Comes Next

You already know the steps.

  1. I offer you a freebie
  2. You sign up to get it
  3. You then receive a series of emails that try to convince you that I have something amazing waiting for you if you give me money

And because you already know the steps, there is a good chance you stopped paying attention. Because you know the purpose of these steps. You’ve walked them too many times.

You’ve signed up for 100s of free things and you can’t remember most of them. You’ve been disappointed more times than you can count.

So many people have your email that if you got lost one day, you’re sure that if a stranger came to help you, you’d be on their email list.

It rarely feels like that thing on the other side of the rainbow is worth it.

But there is a problem. It could be worth it! Unfortunately, you were pushed down the same path that everyone else tries to push you down, and because of that, you stopped paying attention.

And when that happens, guess what the person on the other side does. They try even harder to push you down the path! Countdowns, special offers, and more bonuses.

Some might even resort to calling you names and trying to make you feel bad.

All because you stopped paying attention.

But why did you stop paying attention? Because you’ve been down that path before? That’s a possibility, but it’s also possible that now you want more. You want more because there is so much out there.

You already had Google to turn to for most things. Now you have AI. Let’s not forget the billions of social media posts daily that are giving you advice.

We already know that the world is selling to us, but that’s not the problem. The problem is that they are selling to everyone and not letting us decide when we are ready.

The Bad Niche Ruins the Advice

I’m in the how-to-make-money niche and there is a big problem with this niche.

Everyone wants to make more money. A lot of people are desperate to make more money.

So when they come across someone who promises them that they can help them make more money, it’s a lot easier to get them to sign up for a PDF, workshop, or discovery call.

Because of this, it feels like the traditional sales funnel is alive and well.

But what about the people who have been around the block a dozen times? What about the people who are trying to build something amazing in other niches?

Do the crazy tactics still work on them? Yes and no. Those tactics will always work in some capacity because humans are human. But they are working less because we are all more educated now. We’ve played the games.

And the world has changed.

It’s About a Different Kind of Connection

With the advent of AI, people are looking for more connection, but when people say this, they usually mean going out and meeting people. And that’s an awesome thing to do, but I think the connection that is missing is between people and an idea.

I have no urge to go out and meet strangers. I’ve just never been that kind of person so that kind of connection doesn’t mean much to me. Not to undervalue it because it’s important to be around people from time to time, but the connection that I’m always looking for is a bigger idea.

The problem with AI content is that it doesn’t believe in anything. It doesn’t have a bigger idea that you feel a part of.

There is no connection.
