One Conversation: How to Get Your Conversation Out There
One Conversation, All of the Places
The Conversation that you have with your Character is going to happen in a number of places. How many? That is going to be completely up to you. However, with your Conversation developed, it becomes a lot easier to apply it anywhere that you want.
The only things you need to keep in mind are the different nuances of each platform. People on TikTok treat it differently than they do Instagram Reels. People on Instagram are usually in for a rude awakening when they expect the same kind of response when they head over to Threads.
This doesn’t change your Conversation but it could change how it’s presented.
Numbers Matter
In a perfect world, you could pick any of the options below and make the money you want to make. But numbers matter.
What I mean by that is if you choose a platform that has 10% of the audience of another, you’re making it more challenging for yourself. And if you’re okay with that, then I’m okay with that.
But when looking at platforms, it’s going to be a lot easier to reach your people with YouTube than blogging because your platform (blogging) is limited to how many people you can get to your site.
This doesn’t mean you should avoid blogging, but it means you need to understand the economics (time and energy spent) of each platform.

Long Form
As I discussed in Part II, it’s hard to go wrong with any type of long-form content. But that doesn’t mean they are equal. YouTube gives you the most opportunity for exposure. It’s the only platform that doesn’t require the help of something else.
Blogging, Newsletters, and Podcasting each require their own level of heavy lifting to get people to them. Those three usually require some type of short-form content to pair them up with to drive people to them.
Can SEO drive people to your blog? Yes, but this isn’t 2015, where you could do a couple of things and show up on a Google page that didn’t include AI Overviews and other things preventing people from going to your site.
Blogging
Where everything started for me. Blogging can be a great way to get your thoughts, experiences, and expertise out into the world. But can you do it strategically?
Podcasting
We live in a world where some people love to hear other people talk. As long as what they’re talking about helps them get closer to the Climax.
Newsletters
Email isn’t a nice-to-have. It’s a necessity as it becomes the notification system for your world. You don’t have to send annoying emails. Just send the right ones.

YouTube
If I had to choose just one platform, then this one would be it. That could change over time, but I don’t see that happening. It combines everything to help build a great world.
Short Form
Short form is always going to be the rage because it feels easier to do. But just like long form, not all platforms are created equal. TikTok can get you pretty numbers quickly, but the buying behavior on that platform is different than others so you might find that you build a huge following that takes no action.
LinkedIn can feel boring as hell because of the content and audience, but that audience is ready to spend money.
On Instagram, you should have things that look good or your content can feel out of place.
It’s hard to ignore a platform with billions of people on it. Don’t get frustrated with the algorithm. Focus on the One Conversation and what it is supposed to do.
Threads
One of my favorite platforms, but it’s still hindered by the size of the audience. However, it can serve as a great place to get high-ticket clients and to test ideas.
YouTube
YouTube has its own short-form content. I still prefer the long-form, but if short-form becomes your game, then might as well show up on the world’s second-largest search engine.
I can’t lie, LinkedIn is boring. It feels like a boardroom while also trying to be the place you go to after work. But the audience there is ready to buy.
TikTok
A different style than everything else. You can grow quickly here, but growth doesn’t always lead to revenue. Just pay attention to how the audience behaves.
Advertising
Can you avoid creating any long-form or short-form content if you use Paid Ads? Yes. Should you? No.
The reason I’m putting Pinterest here instead of elsewhere is that you aren’t creating content for Pinterest. You’re creating content and then letting people know it exists by using Pinterest.
Paid Ads
Can paid ads be scary? Yes. Can paid ads do a great job of getting your One Conversation in front of the One Character? Also yes.
It’s not a social media platform. It’s a marketing platform allowing you to share all of the content that you want people to see.
